Mario owns and operates the MRJJA, where he teaches classes on a daily basis. A former professional MMA fighter, he is also the highest ranking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in Minnesota. Michael started practicing Tae Kwon Do at a young age, and has been teaching martial arts since he was 14 years old. He won numerous state and regional level competitions, and currently holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt. Coach “Q” also trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has successfully competed in Mixed Martial Arts. A caring and patient teacher, Michael is the perfect fit for our Anti-Bullying Youth Program. He is a realtor as well as owner of a successful photography business in Rochester.
Coach Curry has been involved with combat sports and fitness his whole life, having wrestled for the Chatfield Gophers and the RCTC Yellow Jackets. He holds an Associate’s degree in Personal Training and Group Fitness, as well as being a certified Personal Trainer under the National Council of Strength & Fitness. As MRJJA’s Strength & Conditioning coach, Zach prepares our amateur and professional athletes for competition and helps our students reach their fitness goals. His hobbies include hunting, hiking and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Chad Curry has been wrestling all of his life. A Chadfield Gopher stand-out, Chad went to State multiple times and placed 2nd in 2008. He then started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the MRJJA, where he currently holds a brown belt. Chad quickly transitioned into Mixed Martial Arts, and as of this writing holds a 9-1 record. He is a great fit for our No-Gi and MMA programs, strengthening the wrestling base of our students.

Rodolfo Savica MD., PhD is a purple belt and one of the adult instructors of BJJ. He is an associate professor of neurology and has a background of Muay Thai where he trained K1 in Italy. His hobbies are BJJ, and playing drums.
